100W CO2 laser and 60W MOPA fiber laser in our Dallas production shop
Laser Engraving and Laser Cutting
Our Dallas production shop runs an OMTech 100 watt CO2 laser that engraves and cuts wood, acrylic, leather, paper, glass and stone on a 24 x 40 inch bed with autofocus. Bare metal goes on a 60W MOPA fiber laser in the same shop, so every common material is covered.
- 100W CO2 laser
- 24 x 40 in bed
- Autofocus
- Cut and engrave
- Up to 1000 DPI photo engraving
What it does
A CO2 laser uses a 10.6 micron beam that organic materials and acrylic absorb well. In raster mode it sweeps across the piece line by line to engrave fills, logos and photographs. In vector mode it follows a path to cut shapes clean through, from acrylic signs and letters to wood inlays, stencils and packaging inserts.
Autofocus sets the focal height for each piece, so a run with mixed thickness still gets a crisp, even result. Air assist and a water chiller keep the cut clean and the tube stable through long production runs.
The 100W CO2 also removes the coating from coated business cards and powder coated tumblers, so the stock or the steel shows through in a clean, sharp design. Anything that is bare metal moves to the fiber laser.

What to send
Vector files are best for clean engraving and every cut: AI, EPS, SVG or PDF with fonts outlined and cut lines on their own layer. For photo engraving send a high resolution JPG or PNG, at least 300 DPI at size. Black and white art works best; gradients are converted to halftones.

How long does a laser engraving job take?
Most one off pieces ship in 3 to 5 business days from proof approval. Corporate orders of 50 to 500 pieces typically take 5 to 10 business days depending on material prep and packaging. Rush is available on most jobs and quoted per order.
What can you not laser?
PVC, vinyl and any chlorinated plastic, because they release chlorine gas that is unsafe and damages the optics. We also avoid faux leather that contains PVC. PVC signs are cut on CNC tables in our production network instead. If you are not sure about a material, send a sample and we will test it.
Can you engrave a photo onto wood or slate?
Yes. We prepare the image as a halftone or grayscale engrave and run it at up to 1000 DPI. High contrast photos with good lighting give the best results. Maple, alder and cherry give the smoothest tones; oak and walnut read higher contrast.
Can you cut acrylic letters and shapes?
Yes. The CO2 laser cuts acrylic up to about 1/2 in with a flame polished edge, which is ideal for signs, letters, awards and display parts up to 24 x 40 in.
Can you engrave coated business cards?
Yes. The 100W CO2 removes the coating in your design so the stock shows through, for a sharp, tactile card that stands out.
Is there a setup fee?
There is no setup fee for standard personalization. If your file needs cleanup, vectorizing or photo preparation, our design time is quoted up front before anything runs.
Ready to engrave something permanent?
Send your file and the material. We send a price and a proof, you approve, we engrave.
