DTF Transfer Pricing: Transparent Per-Print Pricing

DTF transfer pricing is one of the most transparent in the custom decoration industry. There are no setup fees, no per-color charges, no minimum order, and no screen fees. You pay for the print size and the quantity, that is it. This page breaks down current MAD Monkey Media pricing tiers, gang sheet rates, bulk thresholds, and what actually drives the cost on a DTF order.

How DTF Transfer Pricing Works

DTF is priced by two variables: the size of the transfer and the quantity ordered. Color count, fabric type, and artwork complexity do not affect the price. A full-color photographic print on an 11x14 transfer costs the same as a single-color line drawing of the same size.

This is fundamentally different from screen printing (priced per color, per side, with screen and setup fees) and DTG (priced per print with pretreatment surcharges on dark garments). DTF strips out the variables and gives you a clean per-print number.

Gang Sheet Pricing

A gang sheet is a single large transfer film with multiple designs arranged on it. Instead of buying individual transfers, you buy by the square inch of film and arrange as many designs as will fit. This is the lowest cost-per-print option for high-volume operators.

Standard Gang Sheet Sizes

Live checkout sizes are 22″ wide. Lengths run 20″ to 100″ in 10″ steps, then 120″, 140″, 160″, 180″ and 200″. Order online at the DTF gang sheet product.

Pack a sheet tightly and the effective cost per print drops fast: 4x4 prints lay 5 across and 50 down on a 22″ x 200″ sheet, which is 250 prints for $181.00, or $0.72 a print. The longest sheet we sell is 200″, which is 16 feet 8 inches.

What Affects DTF Transfer Cost

Print Size

The single biggest cost driver. A 3x3 patch is less than a quarter the cost of an 11x14 front print, regardless of artwork complexity. Sizing your design appropriately can cut order cost significantly.

Quantity

Per-piece pricing steps down at 10, 50, 100, 250 and 500 pieces. The rate in the by-size table for your quantity is the rate; nothing further is taken off on top of it. Wholesale pricing starts at 500/month.

Finish (Standard vs Premium)

Standard matte and glossy finishes are included in base pricing. Specialty finishes like high-stretch, soft-touch, or reflective add roughly 15-25% to the per-transfer cost.

Rush Turnaround

Standard production is 2-3 business days. 24-hour rush is +$15 flat per order. Same-day rush (local pickup in Dallas) is +$35 flat.

Shipping

Ground shipping is $8.50 per order and free when your order totals $99 or more. 2 Day Air and Overnight are offered at checkout, with the price shown before you pay.

Sample Pricing Scenarios

Scenario 1: One-Off Custom Shirt

1 transfer at 10x10 inch = $8.95 + $8.50 Ground shipping = $17.45 total, ready for you to press.

Scenario 2: Team Order, 25 Shirts

25 transfers at 10x10 inch fall in the 10-49 column at $6.85 each = $171.25 + free shipping. Per-shirt transfer cost: $6.85. Put the same 25 prints on a gang sheet instead: 10″ wide prints lay 2 across, so 25 of them need 13 rows, which is a 22″ x 140″ sheet at $129.00, or $5.16 a print.

Scenario 3: Wholesale Shop, 500 Transfers

500 transfers at 10x10 inch fall in the 500+ column at $2.80 each = $1,400 + free shipping. Per-transfer cost: $2.80. For a run this size, ask for a bulk quote on your exact size mix.

Scenario 4: Gang Sheet for a Brand Drop

One 22x60 inch gang sheet ($58.00) packed with 5x5 prints: 4 across, 12 down, 48 prints. Effective cost: $1.21 per print, with the flexibility to mix as many different designs as you like.

DTF Pricing vs Other Decoration Methods

How does DTF actually stack up against the alternatives at common order sizes?

vs Screen Printing (50-piece order, 2-color front print)

Screen printing: $2.50 per piece + $35 screen setup x 2 colors = $195 total ($3.90 per piece all-in). DTF on gang sheets: 10″ prints lay 2 across, so fifty of them are 25 rows, which is one 22″ x 200″ sheet ($181.00, 40 prints) plus one 22″ x 50″ ($49.00, the last 10) = $230.00 ($4.60 per piece), full color at no upcharge. Cut singles at this quantity are $5.20 each ($260.00). For a 2-color design at 50 pieces, screen printing is the cheaper route; DTF wins on full color, several designs or short runs.

vs Screen Printing (500-piece order, 1-color front print)

Screen printing: $1.10 per piece + $35 setup = $585 all-in ($1.17 per piece). DTF transfers by size at this quantity are $2.80 each, $1,400 all-in. Screen wins by about $1.63 per piece at high volume with low color count. This is the order shape where screen printing still owns the math.

vs DTG (25-piece order on dark cotton)

DTG: about $8.50 per piece with pretreatment on dark garments (roughly $212 for 25). DTF: 25 of an 8x8 transfer from the by-size table lands well under that, with a softer hand and stronger wash durability on dark fabric.

Frequently Asked Pricing Questions

Are there any setup fees?

No. Zero setup fees, zero screen fees, zero color charges, zero minimum order fees. The number you see on your cart is the number you pay, plus shipping: Ground is $8.50 and free on orders of $99 or more.

Do I get a discount for repeat orders?

Volume discounts apply per order, not per month at the standard tier. If you are placing recurring orders that total 500+ transfers per month, our wholesale program locks in larger discounts across all your orders.

What about custom finishes?

Soft-touch, high-stretch, and reflective finishes add 15-25% to the base per-transfer price. Specialty films like puff or glow-in-the-dark add 30-50%. Standard matte and glossy are included in the prices listed above.

Can I get a quote on a large order?

Yes. Orders over 500 transfers, recurring fulfillment, or any project with specialty requirements should go through a custom quote. Request a quote and we will turn around pricing within one business day.

Do you price-match?

We do not formally price-match, but if you have a written quote from a competitor for the same size, quantity, and finish, send it to us with your request and we will see what we can do. Our wholesale tiers are usually below most one-off retail competitors anyway.

What payment methods do you accept?

Credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and ACH on standard orders. Wholesale customers can pay via ACH, wire, or credit card (3% surcharge on cards at the wholesale tier).
