What it does
A UV printer jets ink onto the surface and cures it immediately with UV LED lamps. The ink bonds as it cures instead of soaking in, so it can print on materials that were never meant to be printed: wood, aluminum, glass, acrylic, slate, leather and many plastics.
White ink is what makes UV special. On dark wood, black acrylic, brushed metal or clear glass, we lay down a white base first so the color reads at full strength. White can also be used on its own for text on glass or a frosted look.
We run UV two ways. A flatbed UV printer prints directly onto objects and smaller flat pieces such as awards, signs, gifts, coasters and doormats. AGFA Tauro UV LED presses in our production network print full size rigid boards and rolls, up to about 10 ft wide, for signs, displays and backlit graphics.

What to send
Vector PDF, AI or EPS, or a high resolution PNG or TIFF at 300 DPI at size. For white ink as a spot effect, add a spot color named White. Otherwise we build the white layer for you and confirm it on the proof.

What can you UV print on?
Almost any rigid material that accepts UV ink: wood, aluminum and other metals, acrylic, glass, ceramic tile, slate, leather, foam board, PVC and many plastics. For unusual materials we run a test print first. Soft fabrics and very oily surfaces are not a good fit.
Is UV printing waterproof and good outdoors?
Yes. UV cured ink is waterproof and scratch resistant and holds up to years of sun on signs. An added clear coat or laminate extends outdoor life further.
Can you print white ink on dark materials?
Yes. We print a white base under the color so it stays bright on dark wood, black acrylic, metal and clear glass. White can also be printed on its own as a spot effect.
What is the largest piece you can UV print?
Full 4 x 8 ft rigid boards and rolls up to about 10 ft wide on AGFA Tauro presses in our production network. Objects and smaller pieces run on the flatbed. Larger graphics are produced as matched panels.
How does UV printing compare to sublimation?
Sublimation only works on polyester and coated blanks. UV prints on almost any rigid material, adds white ink and survives outdoors. Sublimation is better for apparel and dishwasher safe mugs; UV is better for signs, awards and hard goods.
Do I need a separate file for white ink?
Only for white as a spot effect. If you just want color to read on a dark surface, we build the white base from your file and show it on the proof.
