Zund and Kongsberg digital cutting tables, in house

CNC Cutting and Routing for Signs, Displays and Packaging

Our CNC digital cutting tables cut, route, crease and score sheet material to any shape you draw: contour cut signs, dimensional letters, retail displays, packaging and kitted parts. Printed boards come straight off our large format presses and onto the table, so the cut lines up with the print.

  • Knife, crease and router tools

What it does

A CNC cutting table moves a tool along the exact path in your vector file. Depending on the material, that tool is an oscillating or drag knife for foam board, corrugated plastic, cardboard, magnet and vinyl; a creasing wheel for folding cartons and displays; a V-cut tool for folded edges; or a router bit for acrylic, PVC, aluminum composite and other rigid board.

Camera registration reads marks printed on the sheet, so contour cuts follow the artwork even when a printed board has shifted slightly. That is how we cut shaped yard signs, standees, logos and decals that match the print edge to edge.

Routing has no heat, so it cuts materials a laser cannot, including PVC foam board and aluminum composite panel. For fine detail in acrylic and wood, we also have a 100W CO2 laser with a 24 x 40 in bed.

How to order

  1. 1

    Send your file and specs

Use our quote form to upload artwork (up to 10 files, 25 MB each) and tell us the material, size and quantity. No artwork yet? Our design team can build it.

  2. 2

Get a price and a proof

We reply with a firm price, usually within one business day, and a proof showing placement and size. Nothing runs until you approve it.

  3. 3

    We produce it in house

Your job runs on our own equipment, checked by the same team that quoted it.

  4. 4

    Pickup or ship

Free local pickup in Dallas-Fort Worth, or tracked shipping anywhere in the United States.

What to send

Send vector files (AI, PDF, EPS, SVG or DXF) with the cut path on its own layer or as a named spot color such as CutContour. For print and cut work, include 1/8 in of bleed past the cut line. No vector file? Our design team can draw the cut path from your artwork.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between CNC cutting and laser cutting?

A CNC table cuts with a knife or router bit, so there is no heat. That makes it the right tool for PVC, aluminum composite, foam board and corrugated plastic, and for full 4 x 8 ft sheets. A laser gives finer detail and a flame polished edge on acrylic and wood. We run both and route each job to the better tool.

Can you cut printed graphics to shape?

Yes. Camera registration reads marks printed with your graphic and adjusts the cut path to match, so shaped signs, standees and decals are cut right to the print.

Can you cut PVC and aluminum composite?

Yes. Both are routed on our CNC tables. Neither can be laser cut safely or cleanly, which is why the tables exist alongside the laser.

What file do I need?

A vector file with the cut path on its own layer or as a spot color named CutContour. If you only have a picture or a sketch, our design team can draw it for you.

Is there a minimum order?

No. We cut single signs and full production runs.
