Ready to press: how to apply a DTF transfer
- Pre-press the garment. Lay the garment flat and press it bare for about 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.
- Place the transfer. Set the transfer artwork side down on the garment, film backing up, and check it is centered.
- Press. Press at 305 F for 12 to 15 seconds with medium-firm pressure.
- Peel the film. Peel as the film calls for: cold peel after 30 to 45 seconds, or warm peel after 5 to 10 seconds. Peel slowly and evenly.
- Finish press. Cover the print with parchment or a Teflon sheet and press again for 5 to 7 seconds at the same temperature.
Settings by fabric, troubleshooting and care are in the full DTF application guide.

DTF transfer questions
What is a DTF transfer?
DTF stands for direct to film. Your design is printed on a film with a white ink layer, coated with adhesive powder and cured. You heat press it onto the garment, then peel the film away.
What is a DTF gang sheet?
A gang sheet is one 22 inch wide sheet with many designs packed on it. You pay for the length of the sheet, not per design, so filling the sheet lowers the cost per print.
What file should I send?
A PNG with a transparent background at 300 DPI at the final print size. If you use the free gang sheet builder, it packs your designs and exports a 300 DPI print file for you.
Which fabrics work with DTF transfers?
Cotton, polyester and cotton-poly blends press well with the standard settings. Nylon, performance and stretch fabrics need a test press first; see the application guide for settings by fabric.
Are the transfers ready to press?
Yes. They arrive printed, powdered and cured. Press them with a heat press using the settings on this page or in the full application guide.
Do you offer wholesale DTF transfers?
Yes. Print shops and resellers who order every month can apply for the wholesale program for reseller pricing and repeat-order support.
Do you offer same day DTF transfers?
Yes. Print-ready orders placed by 2 PM Central on business days ship the same day.
